The most-applied-for jobs in South Africa
The templates in this category reflect raw application volume. Across job boards, walk-in applications, and referral-based hiring, these nine role types dominate South African entry-level and service-sector recruitment.
Why these roles have the highest volume
Three factors drive volume: structural demand, minimum-qualification accessibility, and shift flexibility. Domestic work and security remain steady because South African households and commercial property both rely on them at scale. Teaching and nursing have consistent demand because the public sector recruits continuously to fill vacancies and cover attrition. General-worker and driver roles turn over faster than any other category — which is why templates for these roles get used and re-used every few months.
Qualification floors you should know
For domestic, general-worker, and driver roles, Grade 10 with a clean record and references is usually enough. Security work requires PSIRA registration, which you can obtain from any PSIRA-accredited training provider. Nursing requires SANC registration at the appropriate category (Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse, or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary). Teaching requires SACE registration and a teaching qualification; for private tutoring the bar is lower.
Using these templates
If you're applying to multiple roles in the same session, build one CV first using the closest-match template, then duplicate and adjust for each application. The browser autosaves as you type, so you won't lose work switching between tabs. Download each finished version as a PDF with the role name in the filename — it helps recruiters find your application in their downloads.
